كان هذا ظهوري الاعلامي الاول على قناة دولية, كانت المشاعر متقدة حينها بعد مجزرة جمعة الكرامة الذي قتل فيها قناصة تابعين للنظام اكتر من 35 شاب في ساعة المجزرة و توفي اكثر من 20 متأثرين بجراحهم خلال الايام التي تلتها.. و كنت قد شاركت بعلاج الجرحى في المستشفى الميداني و بعدها في أحد المستشفيات القريبة من ساحة التغيير

كان من حسن الحظ ان الأعلامية تاتيانا الخوري هو أول من قابلني في الاعلام الدولي, أحترافيتها العالية و مقدرتها على ادارة الحوار و اختيار الصور المناسبة كان اكثر من رائع

الجدير بالذكر ان في ذلك اليوم اصيب حوالي 625 شخص بالرصاص حسب احصائية نشرها المستشفى الميداني في حينه, و قد تم هذا كله في اقل من نصف ساعة فأذا فرضنا ان ما اصاب الناس هو 50% من الرصاص المقذوف فقد اطلق على مجموعة من المعتصمين المسالمين حوالي 1200 رصاصة في نصف ساعة فقط

و قلك نظام صالح مش دموي؟ ماذا تركت؟

I was talking to a young Egyptian politician the other day prior to me meeting a prominent American official, I knew this Egyptian guy for years as a friend and as a doctor, and although our political views differed we managed to be very good friends

the question that I had to ask him and delay his sleep for 90 minutes was: why do you guys in Egypt have it heavy against the Americans in your politics and what does he recommend regarding this big meeting of mine? he simply answered don't meet the man your interests don't match (just like our interests in Egypt don't match with the Americans! I could understand his logic, but I had to dig a little further knowing our situation in Yemen differed a bit, so I went further.. I know your party speaks to the American here and there! and he kept denying and he said it is a core fundamental issue for them not to speak to the Americans unless it s all in the open and very well documented and on Camera.

after 90 minutes of back and forth along those lines, I had to hang up our little chat and let my tired friend go to bed!

That was the starting point for me to think, how did all the parties ended up here, and where to head from here to the future?

my answer to self was (stupid ass governance along with dictatorships from the end of 70s till now) surly did no good from the Arabs side to present themselves to the world in one side.. and overly pragmatic and overly (lets stand with Israel for this time only) policy from the Americans that led to more polarization and to slogans like (American is the greatest devil)

The Arab spring is bringing an unprecedented chance for this polarization to end, however I still see all sides not investing to make it fade, in the contrary one can clearly see how limping the US foreign policy is behaving when it comes to expressing discontent towards their old dictator friends (we know he is a SOB but he is our SOB) to the over blaming of the US role in Arab politics and insisting on the the Americans said not to do this to us ??? ( I thought in your country u should be more relevant than the us (if u wanna play politics) other wise go do some gardening!

I don't like any anti sentiment, anti American or anti Iran for that matter in the Arab world right now, we wasted our chance to alliance with Iran in the 80s with our stupid Iraq/Iran war and we wasted our chance to play it well with the Americans in 50s

I can understand how difficult it was back then, since no1 knew anything about the other rather than orientalist tales and pillars of wisdom of the one and only Lawrence of Arabia (which i hate)

but this is not accepted now! why? because you are reading this!

It is absurd how many ppl are dealing with the revolutions in their countries as they are watching a tennis match on TV! they advice Nadal through the screen shouting Go left .. faster,, no no right u fucking idiot! revolutions ladies and Gentlemen is not a show on TV ending up by a tyrant going home.. today in Syria 80 people died in one incident, I lost a childhood friend in Syria, and some got imprisoned, I lost several people I know in Yemen as well, I know an Egyptian blogger who was stripped in public when the central security caught him in Jan 25th, and doctors who were trapped in the hospitals in Banghazi in Libya under air raids.. this is a very close call, very personal and very dangerous!

The situation is difficult, our phones are tabbed, we are being harassed at work (if we still have work left) we wake up everyday with all the possibilities of our lives to be shattered by a single wrong move! activists in the middle east are doing the arab spring without expeirence, no support, with everything to lose and nothing to win but the dignity that our regimes are trying to break since ever. then we find all sorts of ppl lecturing us on what to or not to do without real knowledge on the ground!

I had a call today from someone in Alhasba saying they had rotten bodies on the street and they dont know how to deliver them out! because the partys cant agree on what s a neutral car to pass in.. news about a possible outbreak of cholera in Abyan, and a devastating situation of IDPs in Aden scattered in schools! about 20'000 ppl are there now with no real support systems to catch them!

as of course impotent local NGOs fight over how to suck their donors and how to find routes to build a sustainable capacity bu.. blah blah blah barf!

ppl are dying on the streets because of Tyrants, and what everybody is lending is another lecture on what to do.. i will tell u what to so SHUT UP AND DO SOMETHING!

although i despised the way the political initiatives wants to maneuver around the revolution in Yemen, and how indifferent international community was and still is to the cause of the revolution and to the desire of the Yemeni ppl for justice and moving forward towards a modern state that we deserved along ago and kept out of!

Tthe GCC initiative which became very popular in the EU and backed by the US to keep Yemen from exploding into a million pieces that will eat the whole universe and leave it to ashes ( am i being dramaric enough?)

The initiatives went into several phases and I will use ther term Mobadara: initiative

Mobadara 0.8: that was brought up after ali saleh has asked the (Brothers in the Gulf) to intervene to stop the blood bath

that Yemen might up in (he said) this one suggested that ali saleh was to leave immediately and give up his authorities to

vice president who is ironically enough not legally the vice president (wasnt appointed by a republican decree but was appointed verbally in a random day in 1994)

-the JMP welcomed this (to prevent the country from sliding into a blood bath),
-the revolutionary youth have rejected it because it is not an issue with the president however it is against a whole regime.
-alisaleh has rejected the thing before it saw life! and said anything that comes from qatar or aljazeera is rejected rejected rejected!

Mobadara 1.0 : the immediate departure of saleh was replaced by a transition period of 60 days but the president had to sign alone! so he rejected it because he sees himself not as a political player, but as a leader that .. whatever, so he says the party should be the entity signing.

mobadara 2.0 : by then the GCC and basically ksa started becoming restless, and they asked the JMP and the some politicians from the regime to discuss terms of what should happen, but still it didnt move much and everyone had to go home empty handed.. JMP basically accepted the initiative but said they wont participate in the next gov, and they have no control on the protests.

mobadara 3: and that s when things became interesting, EVERTHING was asked by the president was answered and the JMP was pressured to accept the deal negotiated in alriadh including 50\50 participation in a unity gov and commitment to remove all reasons of tension from the street (that's the revolution)

-ali saleh refused this time, he has to sign as the head of his party since this is a political crisis not a national uprising..

mobadara 4.0 : thats when all was set and the GCC secretary started visiting Sana'a and leaving back and forth because one or the other was refusing to sign! to the point when he left last Wednesday and said damn it i am going to expose u all guys! then suddenly he decided to come back and as of last night the jmp signed! and then the president said it is dirty to sign behind closed doors .. lol

what gets my attention in all of this, how all the parties involved in this pathetic political move ignored the real deal behind all of this.. the revolution and the youth in it!

I visited Egypt in 2003 with all those notions i hear and read from Egyptian officials that Egypt had limited resources

and it is barely surviving and that why they are throwing most of the population beyond poverty line and beyond literacy.
linked to that a whine for the need to aid from the international community. I have always believed that it was a pile of crappy allegations because I could see with my own eyes how prosperous could Egypt be and how many possibilities laid before it.

the same rhetoric has always been repeated in Yemen, the need of aid and the constant baby whine about the increasing number of population and how it is consuming the country limited resources.

Once Mubarak’s regime collapsed and his accounts in Swiss and other banks were exposed the astronomical numbers started to appear, 40-70 bn dollars! GODDAMN! he alone managed to steal all that with the country having limited resources??? how much could he have stolen if it was a prosperous country.

Since I know the regime in Yemen is more similar than not to the one in Egypt I really wonder now how much money will be exposed once the curtain falls and the regime gets removed it became embarrassing for me on the personal level when all I hear from the foreign affairs minister of my country everywhere he goes is we need aid.. we need aid.. billions and billions of dollars in aid? what for? what happened to the billions coming before?

millions upon millions of dollars are given to Yemen annually in the form of Aid, and it only helps the regime survives, the people are not benefiting by anything of it! in all aspects we r just finding the regime stronger by that aid rather than the people of the country, and it is sometime doing the work the government is supposed to do.

Did you know?
The government hasn’t build any schools in the last 20 yrs
No public general hospitals has been built in the country in the past 20 years

stop the aid for Yemen, the country is not benefiting from it! but the henchmen of the regime to fill themselves and their accounts up.

نذهب لأننا نعلم كما يعلم كل عاقل أن البلاد تذهب ألى الدمار أذا ما أستمر الحال كما هو عليه من أدارة اليلاد بعقلية الأزمات و التخوين و الخروج من نفق مظلم الى آخر. فبسبب سوء أدارة ملف المتقاعدين في محافظات لحج و الضالع تحول الموضوع من مطلب فئوي الى مطلب بأنفصال من الجمهورية, و في صعدة تم أستخدام سوء التنمية و الجهل بشكل وفر بيئة لتنامي فتنة أسيء ادارتها حتى على لامستوى الأمني و العسكري لتصبح الان صعدة الى مستنع للفتن عوضا عن كونها سلة فاكهة اليمن و محتذب سياحي.. و هي بلدة طيبة و أهلها كرماء

لماذا نذهب؟
لأن البلد خارجة علينا بخسارة! أصبحت البلاد متأزمة بطريقة صعب علينا فيها ممارسة حياة طبيعية فلا تعليم و لا رعاية صحية, و لا معاملات حكومية, و لا قضاء, حتى المساجد تم شحنها

As I was watching CBS tonight news (out of pure bordem) -NOW- a piece on how good the American strike is in Afghanistan, saying it killed 50 "major" alqaeda leader and it showed several pictures of bearded men with funny names beneath them..

what got my attention was they showed a picture of (Abu Hamza Almasri) showed in picture, the former MI6 informant who lives in UK now and followed by dozens of law suits, they put him in the same line as those (said to be killed in Afghanistan) with another name with his pic.. Abu Mujahid Almasri!!!!????

Marwa Alsharbini, Murdered because? How? And now What??

Marwa Alsharbini is a woman from Egypt, a pharmacist and married to an Egyptian academic doing a research in Max Plank research centre in Dresden. Marwa is Muslim , and she wears hijab.

Last November while she was in a play ground with her 3 year old child, she asked a young man 28 year old German named Alex to let her child play on the swing, for the lack of other answers the young man called her a "Muslim Terrorist"

Marwa being the woman she is, sued him in courts and got a rule in her favour to fine the man 780 Euros for racial assault (though the fine is next to nothing) this was a moral victory to say the least.
The racist young man "Alex W." filed for an appeal, which was accepted, last week during the trial as Marwa was in court testifying, the man attacked her with a knife and stabed her 18 times which were lethal and she died on court, and as her husband jumped on her defence was stabbed 3 times as well in his chest and abdomen and now lies in critical state in the hospital.

Now how did this low life racist man managed to sneak a knife into a court house?
How did he manage to stab her 18 times? (this is the official story)
Why is 2 young highly educated Muslims assaulted and the woman killed with NO MEDIA COVERAGE WHATSOEVER?

PS. She was 3 month pregnant when murdered.

After 3 months Ahmed spent in Jail just because he is a blogger in Egypt, I think it is fit to say couple of words about one of the most enlightened men i have encountered in my life.

I knew Ahmed as a med student through various discussions in online forums, as he is for ikhwan school of thought and i am somehow not for it, we kept debating that for years in which enriched my thinking and it is fair to say his as well.

Ahmed is a hardworking influential young man, the kind of person you would see climbing ranks in whatever he does, and you could see him in a leading position anywhere in the world, but because he is where he is right now he is ending up in jail.

Because he is conforonting power with truth
because he wants a better future for himself and others
he looks at the insanity, the injuctice, torture, corruption in his country and deciding not stay silent about it, that is why he being sent to jail.

The last time he was in jail he could use that unpleasant long visit for his own good and came out stronger and he even blogged about his experience, somehow i feel this time about his visit was rougher than the last and with all heart i hope i a wrong!

i would like to talk about the very strange details of his capture and jail time, but that would be next time.

A while ago I was discussing the issue of software piracy from an Islamic and financial prospectives with a friend. Back then I began to form an opinion about it as mere stealing -not obvious enough to many- and it should be avoided at all costs especially with free open source software becoming available.
That friend of mine, being the one he is, shot me with the shock and awe technique with the concept that if software piracy was to be limited (as a paralegal finances) it will lead into a domino effect which eventually will collapse the global economy, imagine if you will, what stands between us and a total financial meltdown are wood kiosks selling copies of the matrix trilogy film.

Since then every time I started recognizing that anyone wanted to protect whatever going around in the world (especially when it is fishy) you hear the same phrase, serious use of renewable energy will cause the oil global economy to collapse, leading to political collapse!

This will lead into financial meltdown, that will irreversibly disrupt the power balance in wherever region and so on.. which made me wonder, if the political and financial order is that fragile why not let it collapse anyway and work on something better instead of wasting our nerves, time, and resources in a vain attempt trying to protect it.

Fix as far as you can! However when the issue is deeper than fix the idea of changing the paradigm must be considered. You know, even Anakin Skywalker joined the dark side with his high metoclorains but that didn't cause the collapse of the power!!

We see examples of that all around but let me begin with political systems, democracy took us so far as humanity, but the dichotomies coming with it is not doing anybody any good.. the idea of parties (right and left) (conservative vs liberal) and so on and it is financial backbone (socialist vs capitalist ) all of that must be considered, people need solutions for their problems and they don't care where do they come from. Now we see governments in countries like Germany, having a collation between the CDU (conservative) and the SPD (socialist) it took them about 6 months to fix the government and they r doing rather well now and nothing happened! The political system didn't collapse and the country is running ok!

Change is painful as a natural process, but it doesn't require or necessarily lead to total collapse .

So now do you see?

To Flu or not to Flu? That s the misery!

As the fake concerned face of the WHO speaker appeared on TV speaking about the Swine Flu global pandemic.. I knew he is going to shower the earth population with another WHO master piece. and boy did he not disappoint me?!

Swine Flu is moving from Grade III meaning concerning pandemic to Grade IV (hard to contain), As this announcement cracked me up, The series of (hard to contain) diseases seem to only grow with time rather than decrease!

From HIV, to HCV, TB, Malaria, Cancer, and even mild diseases like Polio. The WHO failed to contain and/or control any of these and more diseases in the world.

The polio program had a very nice story in Yemen, at the time in which we were supposed to eradicate the disease and at that year we had only 1 reported case of Polio in the country,
What happened was the WHO created another vaccination campaign -which many called unnecessary- only to supply the country with vaccines not only containing LIVE viruses but with the most virulent strain of it (that was in 2005) and what was the beloved organization to it? Oops our BAD!! your bad? Dozens of reported full paralyzed children were reported and dozens more were missed in the amidst of villages! And the whole case was dropped away by forgetfulness and idiocy!

Lets see the products of the WHO in the past 15 yrs disease number

1: SARS.. Now I wanna ask everyone, medical professionals especially.. where did that go? what happened to it? how and why was it eradicated? the answer to all these questions is No one knows!

Disease number 2: Bird Flu, now that was a better and more scary version of SARS, and to put this in prospective, do u know anyone who knows anyone who knows someone who saw a bird flu patient? since the question was no to all the medical professionals I saw in countries like Malaysia, Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Hungary, Germany, France, and the US.. the thing becomes fishier than you can just pass it.

Well could they be into something right now? Maybe, though I dont have many reasons to believe it.

Does SARS exist maybe yes, was it a clear and present danger? NO. Does Bird Flu Exist maybe, was it that much of Danger? I dont think so!

There are so many factors playing on this, first of the pharmaceutical companies which will make billions of dollars creating drugs for crazily scary pandemics, lets just remind everyone that the UK government was under lots of heat why did it inly have a strategic load of tamiflu only enough for 60 -70% of its population (tamiflu is the drug effective for bird flu)

Now Look again, the UK government bought enough tamiflu for 60% of the population equaling 40 million people , now think of all the other countries which mindlessly bought all those loads of the drug just because the WHO blessed us with their CONCERNS!

I know a century ago a pandemic of flu killed millions! But do u think we r living still in the 1919 world? Don't you think that disease control has improved over 90 years?
If not I really suggest you join forces of the fake concerned scared people of the FAT WHO!
The story is yet to be finished but I will leave with some numbers

Mortality due to SARS 2002-so far is betwen 700-900

Mortality due to Bird Flu 2004-2009 is betwen 175-200

Mortality due to TB alone in one year only is 3.5 milion people around the world!

The Eye of the Ignorant

To bridge the gab between cultures and countries, I realized traveling wide enough and meeting a very well diverted scope of people, the first step should be either the enlightenment or knocking out the eye of the ignorant, which is a phenomenon I recognized through watching several interactions among several people of different backgrounds.

I will go in to this in several posts but I will start with someone dear to my heart(or is he).

In November 2008 by the time it was clear, a very tough ride is expected for the international economy and for the oil producing countries economies. I had a chance to meet Emanuel Mbi the world bank country director with a delegation of political sciences students from Holland.
So far so good, you go to such a meeting thinking the person you are about to meet is someone who knows what is he doing, only to find the following (again I would like to remind you this is the WORLD BANK COUNTRY DIRECTOR = the highest representative of the global organization in the country)

my first observation was -as shortsighted as it may be- the 15000 USD worth wall wide LCD screen which was perfect in my prospective to play a perfect game of need for speed..

when the guy finally made it to the meeting, he had one answer to all these questions, what are the main projects for the world bank in yemen? what are the main accomplishments of the world bank in Yemen? what are the future plans of the world bank in Yemen? although these were 3 different questions requiring a slightly (at least) different answers.. the answer was I have been in Yemen only for 3 months and I don't know much about our operations here !
3 MONTHS?? are you kidding me? are those 20 something people look dumb to you?
3 MONTHS WERE NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU TO GET TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON?? in which reality have you been hanging around?

Then he started talking about the problem facing the country, WATER came next as the issue.. fine this seem interesting enough -thinking to myself that the world bank recommended Salvador to privatize water sources even rain meaning ppl couldn't store rain water in tanks without the consent of the American water company which got the reserved rights (why am i not surprised) anyway this whole plot ended in disaster when the folks rioted against this idiotic plan. so water it was and the scientific proof that he used to emphasize the water crisis was the farmers complain that they should deeper every year looking for water.. you would expect some research of a reputable Hydrology center with reading and numbers but no all u get to explain the water crisis in Yemen is some complainst of farmers!

Not disappointed well i hope the next one will get your attention, OIL was next in list of proves that Yemen will go down the drain if the world bank didnt step in?? the debate of course include the classic three symptoms of the oil industry we have been hearing ever since, those are declining prices, declining prices, and new energies emerge! well maybe but you would think someone of such caliber would come managing an organization this big in a country whose economy is based on oil should at least know the country production or the oil prices.. or how much did they decline to say the least! still.. NO, he didnt.. at this point I would really like to know how did he find out the country is going down the drain and desperately needs the blah blah blaaah..

The meeting went on and as all things came to an end, in the discussion that followed with the guys coming all the way from Holland there mesmerized by the ignorance displayed clearly. As I thought and clearly verbalized (this is an indicator of how the donors money are operated in Yemen) Someone suggested that Mr director was acting naively or actually naive ti the conditions the country is facing.

so to make it short you have world bank country director who doesnt know what is he doing after 3 months of working, doesnt know the sceintfic parameters of a so called water crisis, and doesnt know the oil prices or production in a oil based economy country!

Despite all that, some of those Dutch delegates went back to thier lower lands talking about the information supplied in this meeting in face value!
